Aristokratie des Leidens – davon das Gegenteil !!!

about
I suggest that you hold in your hands two distinct books. The main text of each is the same. It is all too easy to compare these two books to the two Don Quixote invented by Borges, the one written by Cervantes, the other, identical in words, written much later by an imagined Pierre Menard. Despite the words being the same, so much has happened that the meaning is different. One of these books is governed by the idea of “Unvernunft”, in which there lurks a dream of madness in the wild, as something prediscursive, inaccessible, pure. The other book is what the first became, stripped of romantic illusion.
(And) When I read in the history of portraits about Albrecht Dürer’s portraits from around 1514 being (in the author’s opinion) the first pictures of “the modern artist” as they visualize “Erkenntnis” and as I continued reading the article about not so interesting artists, it ended with “The Artist as Consumer of extreme Comfort” from 454 years later by Bas Jan Ader in which he (in the opinion of the author) antiquated the artist subject, I knew that I wanted to show painting work by King of Colour Matthias Dornfeld and classy portraits by OGG Gülsüm Güler, accompanied by a conceptual photographic work by Sabine Strong Reitmaier altogether in a hotel room, the next thing I thought here we are: communicating.
(And) Most of the time I work I am alone, sometimes in the dark photo lab. I love it and hate it, it’s great fun. Exhibiting art work in a hotel room that set strong value in the making, production, “Arbeit” seemed logical. This aspect of the works is also inhabited in their titles: “from nine to five” (Florian Auer), “psychic reading” (Tina Kohlmann), “google the devil” (by myself), “more not now” (Aleksandra Bielas).
